Mark Carney has fully endorsed Donald Trump’s bid to balkanize Iran on behalf of the genocidal Jewish supremacist state and a US empire that insists on ruling the world. Tens of thousands will likely be killed unless Iran can deliver a decisive blow to US and Israeli interests in the region.
In a statement posted to X Saturday morning, Carney and foreign minister Anita Anand said “Canada supports” the US/Israeli violation of the UN Charter. The statement endorsing the unprovoked attack was just the latest example of the Carney government’s subservience to the US empire’s ‘might makes right’ policy around the world.
The written statement was odious but the prime minister’s declaration at an event in India was even worse. Carney declared, “Canada reaffirms Israel’s right to defend itself and to ensure the security of its people.” In an initial Israeli attack upwards of 100 were killed in a strike on an elementary school in Minab, southern Iran. Information on the horrific crime was already circulating widely when Carney made his declaration.
Caney also called Iran, not Israel or the US, the “principal source of instability and terror throughout the Middle East.” He added, “Canada supports the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security.”
In the speech Carney also boasted about sanctioning Iranian officials. Two weeks ago, Anand announced a new set of sanctions against Iran and said “regime change” in Iran would be required for restarting diplomatic ties.
In 2012 Canada broke off diplomatic relations with Tehran and listed the country as a state sponsor of terror. A year and a half ago Ottawa listed part of Iran’s military as a “terror” organization.
Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu have stated openly that the aim of their aggression is to overthrow the Iranian government. Israel’s broader strategic aim is not complicated. Iran put some check on its dominance of the region, notably by its ability to hit Tel Aviv with missiles in the summer. Israel wants to be the only state in southwestern Asia that has an ability to threaten its neighbours with military might. Something it has done to every other country in the region. The supremacist state wants to fundamentally weaken a nation of 93 million to ensure its hegemony.
The head of Israel Now and former leader of the Jewish Defence League Meir Weinstein recently posted a discussion on the subject. “Should Iran be broken up into separate states similar to the break-up of Yugoslavia?”, noted his post of a video interview on the topic.
Some Canadians believe a region of half a billion must be subordinated to the interests of a small Jewish supremacist state and the US empire. Our prime minister is one of them.
