Canada’s most successful hate movement is also the country’s most aggressively authoritarian lobby. As Zionists promote deportations, Islamophobia, anti-Arabism and genocide in Palestine, their fascist character can’t be denied.
Before speaking at Carleton University last Wednesday, I wandered about Parliament Hill questioning politicians about Trump’s threats against Iran (Marc Miller), whether NATO is a belligerent alliance (Heather McPherson) and apologizing for backing a coup in Haiti (Dennis Coderre). In response to my video asking Liberal MP Anthony Housefather whether he considered himself a genocidal Jewish supremacist — to which he called me “one of the biggest antisemites in Canada” — former Canadian ambassador to Norway Artur Wilczynski demanded the police stamp out freedom of expression. A former assistant deputy minister and University of Ottawa special adviser on antisemitism, Wilczynski posted, “This type of security threat to elected Canadian officials is unacceptable. Parliamentary Protective Services and the RCMP have a responsibility to step up before it’s too late.”
Parliamentary Protective Service officers were on the other side of the street and inside the building Housefather walked to. Does Wilczynski want to criminalize asking MPs questions on public streets?
(At least Wilczynski only wanted me jailed. The anonymous X account Right Thinking responded, “I can only hope that Israel catches up with you and you conveniently die from a heart attack.”)
Empowered by weaponizing antisemitism, Wilczynski’s authoritarian demand is but a taste of the full court Zionist press against democratic rights. Genocidal Jewish supremacist groups are aggressively pressing universities to suppress opposition to genocide. While McGill and higher profile schools receive most of the attention, the Investigative Journalism Foundation recently reported on B’nai Brith’s campaign to restrict campus activism in Saskatchewan. According to the organization’s August 17 lobbying declaration, B’nai Brith met provincial officials to, among other things, press post-secondary institutions to identify opposition to Zionism, “undue criticism of the State of Israel” and “colonial narratives” claiming indigeneity by non-Jews to “the Jewish homeland” to be antisemitism.
In their campaign to suppress opposition to their beloved apartheid state, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) is pushing “to expand the grounds by which Canadian citizenship can be revoked.” In August CIJA representatives met a staffer from the Prime Minister’s Office and another at Public Safety Canada, as well as MP Maggie Chi, to discuss stripping the citizenship of Israel critics. Previously The Maple reported that between March and July CIJA communicated with Minister of Public Safety Gary Anandasangaree, CSIS director Dan Rogers and Conservative MP Shuvaloy Majumdar on the matter. According to filings with the federal lobbyist registry, the official advocacy agent of Canada’s Jewish federations expressed: “Continued support for revocation of citizenship in cases involving war crimes, crimes against humanity, terrorism, and extreme promotion of hate; strengthened screening to bar entry and deny citizenship to individuals who pose security threats or have ties to extremist or terrorist organizations; removal of individuals already in Canada who obtained status through false representation; establishment of a fast-track removal stream for high-risk individuals linked to foreign extremist organizations; accelerated removals for individuals convicted of violent crimes; and standalone immigration consequences for expressing support for listed terrorist entities, even in the absence of criminal convictions.”
During meetings to promote revoking people’s citizenship, CIJA also pushed for “A ministerial directive to the RCMP and CSIS to prioritize and intensify monitoring, intelligence collection, investigations, disruption, and enforcement against antisemitic and Islamist violent extremism, as well as against foreign actors seeking to sponsor or exploit protests in Canada.”
“Antisemitism”, according to CIJA, is principally opposition to Jewish supremacist colonialism. As part of lobby groups’ longstanding push to define criticism of Zionism as racism, Public Safety Canada declared on Thursday that antisemitism “includes anti-Zionism”. The ministry’s National Commitment to Combat Antisemitism report further notes, “The Government of Canada recognizes that antisemitism can also be a matter of national security. . . . antisemitism is a core component of many violent extremist ideologies. It can contribute to radicalization and violence, and threatens social cohesion and democratic values.”
As they push to identify anti-Zionism (or antisemitism, in their parlance) as a “matter of national security”, CIJA has pushed to expand the scope of Canada’s terrorism law. As Larry Haiven detailed in “The Realpolitik of the new Combatting Hate Act”, the lobby backed Act expands the scope of the terror list. Under the newly implemented Act one can go to jail for up to a decade for flying a Samidoun Palestinian Political Prisoners Solidarity Network flag during a protest against Benjamin Netanyahu in front of a community centre.
CIJA is the main organization that got the Trudeau government to list Vancouver-based Samidoun a terrorist organization two years ago. Currently they are campaigning to add Palestine Action Canada, Masar Badil and Kata’ib Hezbollah to the terrorism list. If they succeed with these organizations, they will likely seek to ban other groups.
In fact, two weeks ago Matthew Taub of Unapologetically Jewish held a press conference on Parliament Hill in which he strongly suggested Just Peace Advocates’ (JPA) work to get the Canada Revenue Agency to uphold the Income Tax Act was “terrorism”. At the presser Taub announced he’d sent evidence on the grassroots activist group to both the RCMP and US authorities because they had ties to Samidoun (Samidoun was listed for allegedly having ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine). Taub also suggested JPA has ties to Hamas.
What prompted Taub, by his own admission, to target JPA was the group’s research and activism on Zionist charities violating the Income Tax Act (According to Taub, two dozen Jewish charities are currently being audited in part because of information JPA submitted to the CRA.)
As newly updated Google Maps satellite imagery demonstrate the scope of the destruction in Gaza and Israel applies similar tactics in southern Lebanon, Canadian Zionists are turning ever more openly authoritarian. Repress. Repress. Repress is the zio fascists mantra.
