The scope of Carney’s support for the lawless genocidal Jewish supremacist state is stunning. In the last few days, his government granted Netanyahu access to Canadian skies, a Liberal MP was punished for voting against arms shipments and they labelled it racist to oppose this century’s leading racist movement.
On Thursday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was granted the right to travel through Canadian airspace twice. His “Wing of Zion” aircraft travelled over Canada on route to New York and back to Tel Aviv. Ottawa okayed the overflight, which in practical terms granted him a shortened flight, despite Netanyahu facing an outstanding warrant for war crimes from the International Criminal Court. A year ago, Prime Minister Carney claimed Netanyahu would be arrested if he entered Canada. Instead, he has repeatedly granted the outlaw express flight access.
While most countries’ diplomats walked out on Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly, Canada’s ambassador remained seated for the genocidaire. As Ambassador David Lametti listened, Netanyahu pledged to “finish the job” in Gaza, boasted about blowing Lebanese up with pagers and claimed if Israel hadn’t attacked Iran “we’d all be dead”. A Haaretz article headlined “Netanyahu just incited genocide in his UN speech”, concluded by noting a “wanted war criminal got onstage at the UN to incite continued genocide — another nadir for the crumbling institution.”
On Friday CBC reported that Liberal MP Sean Casey was recently stripped of his parliamentary secretary position for supporting an NDP MP’s bill to close a loophole regarding arms exports allowing weapons to be shipped via the US to Israel. Non-cabinet Liberal MPs were previously free to vote with their conscience on private members bills, but that party principle has run up against Liberal support for genocidal Jewish supremacy. In response Doctor Kavita Algu noted how “Carney demoted Sean Casey for voting to close a loophole that would decrease Canada’s weapons use in war crimes; but he allowed Vince Gasparro to keep his equivalent position after faking an announcement banning [music group] Kneecap from Canada for opposing genocide.”
As Jewish settlers rampage in the occupied West Bank, Ottawa announced new funds this week to bolster a security force assisting Israel’s illegal occupation. Canada added $20 million in “aid” for Palestinian security initiatives with Carney noting, “We will continue to lead in training the Palestinian Authority’s security forces through Operation PROTEUS, and we stand ready to extend that support to Gaza when conditions permit.”
Over the past two decades, Canada has spent hundreds of millions of dollars through Operation PROTEUS supporting a US effort to build a Palestinian Authority Security Force to assist Israel’s illegal occupation of the West Bank.
On Thursday Public Safety Canada released a report that says explicitly that opposition to Jewish supremacist colonialism is racism. In a section on Understanding Antisemitism Public Safety notes, “Antisemitism, which includes anti-Zionism, is not always obvious.”
The report is the latest step by the government to demonize and criminalize maybe the most significant anti-racist movement in Canada and the world.
In 1975 most countries voted for a UN resolution labelling Zionism racism. Since then, Israeli society has become more racist, passing a slew of apartheid laws, banning Palestinian parties from elections, committing genocide in Gaza, etc. Still, Ottawa just labelled it racist to oppose a movement/state that has been at the forefront of promoting xenophobia and supremacism across the globe.
To weaken its neighbours Israel has stoked religious sectarianism. Al Jazeera recently reported that the IOF has largely “destroyed predominantly Shia villages in southern Lebanon. Nearby Christian villages have been told they will be spared if they remain neutral.”
In the West the Israeli propaganda apparatus has promoted anti-Muslim sentiment. The Israeli government and its local lobbyists have ploughed large sums into racist activists and outlets like Tommy Robinson and Rebel News. Little discussed, the Zionist movement has been a central factor in rising anti-immigrant sentiment in Canada during the past three years.
Doublespeak has definitely arrived. Canada has officially labelled it racist to criticize a gigantic purveyor of racism. And it’s part of Mark Carney’s extensive support for a lawless genocidal supremacist state.
