Israeli enforcing Gaza famine to sing at food bank fundraiser

A Montreal food charity’s fundraiser suggests genocidal supremacism has completely overtaken Canada’s Jewish organizations.

On June 10 Mada is holding “A Fundraiser for Food Security” at the ritzy Windsor Ballrooms in Montreal. According to the community centre’s site, “Serving over 5,000 families annually, Mada offers meal delivery, a well-stocked food bank with essentials and fresh produce, and support and crisis services.” The registered charity’s site further explains, “Powered by unconditional love & kindness and a belief in our shared humanity, Mada provides Montrealers free, nutritious, kosher food and related support with dignity.”

While this government subsidized organization is ostensibly focused on “food security” in Montreal, the publicity for the fundraiser focuses almost entirely on an Israeli military singer who will perform. It notes that Noam Bushika “is a reservist in the paratrooper brigade and has been involved fighting the war since October 7th.”

A community centre focused on “food security” in Montreal that claims a “belief in our shared humanity” is raising funds by promoting an individual that’s recently participated in a mass slaughter and starvation campaign in Palestine?

What does offering food to Montrealers have to do with Israel?

What does it have to do with an Israeli soldier?

Is promoting a military enforcing a famine for a “food security” fundraiser a sick joke about the famine in Gaza?

The Israeli military is starving Palestinians. For 10 weeks they’ve blocked thousands of trucks full of food from entering Gaza. According to a May 12 UN assessment, “all 2.1 million Gazans face life-threatening food insecurity, with nearly a quarter starving.”

How supremacist must a “food security” organization be to promote a military enforcing a famine?

What makes Mada’s fundraising promotion even more striking is that charities generally draw money out of people through apolitical, uncontroversial, messaging.

Has Mada assessed that its supporters are more likely to attend a fundraiser and donate large sums if it’s Israel, particularly IOF, focused?

What does that say about its supporters?

Mada’s fundraiser is an egregious example of colonial Jewish supremacism, but it reflects the broader degeneration of Canadian Jewish organizations. In maybe the highest profile example, United Jewish Appeal of Toronto is organizing an upcoming Walk for Israel. Thousands, even tens of thousands, are likely to march on May 25 in favour of Israel’s push to ethnically cleanse Gaza of non-Jews. Toronto’s Jewish community will likely come out in force to support Israel’s final solution.

After Israel’s holocaust concludes is redemption possible for the bulk of Canada’s Jewish organizations?
