Noah Zatzman is demanding a paper “remove” an article sympathetic to my campaign to lead the NDP. Is the disgraced former Green Party advisor worried I might win?
On Wednesday the Sarnia Journal published “The NDP is shrinking and Yves Engler might be the reset it needs”. In it Nathan Colquhoun wrote, “Yves Engler won’t fix everything. But putting him in the leadership race would force the conversation to places the party has spent a decade avoiding. Foreign policy. Class struggle. Public ownership. Justice that doesn’t begin and end with branding.”
In response Zatzman wrote the paper a message under the title “Can you remove this article”. It noted:
“Hello,
“You’ve published an endorsement of the notorious antisemite Yves Engler.
“I consider him a borderline neo Nazi and a danger to the Canadian Jewish community.
“Engler was in jail a few months ago for 5 days for harassing a Jewish journalist.
“Endorsement of this hate and incitement towards Jews is unacceptable for the Sarnia Media Group, a recipient of govt funding.
“Would appreciate it if you could remove this very disturbing content immediately. Thanks.”
Hopefully, the publication won’t cower to this entitled genocide advocate with a perpetual victim complex. An advisor to then Green leader Annamie Paul, Zatzman was heavily responsible for the spectacular collapse of that party in 2021.
For those unfamiliar with the background, during an upsurge in Israeli violence and ethnic cleansing in May 2021 Zatzman posted a message to Facebook stating:
“Shabbat shalom. I have never experienced more anti-Semitism and Jew hatred from people I thought I knew well, then I did this week. (This includes being on campus at York and Carleton in 2002-7 — not a walk in the park). The progressive and climate communities have displayed, at some points this week, overt and virulent anti-Jewish behavior.
“Appalling anti-Semitism and discrimination from a range of political actors beginning with Jagmeet Singh and Dimitri Lascaris and many Liberal, NDP and sadly Green MPs.
“We will not accept an apology after you realize what you’ve done. We will work to defeat you and bring in progressive climate champions who are antifa and pro-LGBT and pro indigenous sovereignty and Zionists!!!! Am Israel chai [The people of Israel live].”
I brought Zatzman’s anti-Palestinian Facebook post to wide attention. In “Crazed anti-Palestinian Green adviser must be removed” I wrote, “Party leader Annamie Paul’s senior adviser has threatened party MPs, gone against party policy and needs to be removed immediately. If Paul doesn’t remove Noah Zatzman and shift gears regarding Palestine it may spell the end of any chance she has for success as party leader.”
The article intensified a simmering internal conflict. With Zatzman continuing to publicly threaten opponents of Israeli violence, Green MP Jenica Atwin soon left the party. For his part, Zatzman was pushed out and Paul resigned after a disastrous election result. (Months later it came to light that Zatzman complained about my article in a senior Green Party chat to which Elizabeth May responded, “Just to you. Yves Engler is vile.. but we do need to have Annamie [Paul] make a clear statement so it does not look like we are divided… do you have a plan?? Xo [hugs and kisses].” It wasn’t until Atwin left the party that May finally distanced herself from Zatzman and Paul’s odious Zionism.)
After torpedoing the Greens in favour of Israeli violence and ethnic cleansing, Zatzman landed on his feet with the Zionist movement. While he’s remained angry over my writing and has repeatedly smeared me, Zatzman’s reaction to the Sarnia article demonstrates his inability to be strategic.
What’s the likelihood he’ll succeed? Even if the paper removed it, what would the impact be? Wouldn’t it give the commentary even greater attention?
If undermining my campaign is Zatzman’s aim — rather than lashing out against someone who embarrassed him — he’s making a mistake. But genocide advocates have become increasingly emotional. They are drinking their putrid bathwater and don’t understand how many people are appalled by Israel’s holocaust.
Noah Zatzman is a quintessential emotional authoritarian Zionist who knows little else but to threaten and smear.
