Absurd (dropped) charges exposed racist, authoritarian Zionism

Dahlia Kurtz has been taking loss after loss. The prosecution recently dropped the charges against me for purportedly “harassing” the genocidal Jewish supremacist influencer.

The decision to drop the charges represents a victory for free speech and for those who oppose Canadian complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The Montreal police should never have charged me for merely criticizing a holocaust promoter on social media.

A year ago, Kurtz went to the police claiming harassment because I criticized her violent, racist, social media posts. The police investigated Kurtz’s allegations last summer and then closed the file. Subsequently, leading Zionist lawfare practitioner Neil Oberman sent a letter to the Montreal police on Kurtz’s behalf, which prompted the police to reopen the case.

In February the police charged me and sought to impose a condition of release restricting my ability to mention Kurtz’s name. I spent five days in jail in a successful effort to defeat a condition restricting my ability to address Kurtz’s claims against me.

Interestingly, my continued writing about Kurtz’s violent racism likely influenced the prosecution’s decision to drop the charges. In “I can hardly wait for unhinged Zionist fanatic to testify”, “‘SuperJew’ seller cheers York medic firing for Israel post”, “Zionist’s use of legal system to attack critics fails again” and other articles I documented Kurtz’ authoritarian, genocidal, positions. In response to the Liberal election victory, for instance, Kurtz said she was moving to Florida and posted “COMING SOON: The Islamic Republic of Canada”.

If I would have accepted the conditions imposed on me, it wouldn’t have been possible to expose Kurtz’ racism.

The seller of “SuperJew” shirts also lost a couple of other suppressive efforts related to my case. Kurtz’s bid to have the Barreau du Québec reprimand my lawyer was rejected. So was her complaint to the Senate ethics officer against Senator Yuen Pau Woo for defending me.

While the prosecution dropped the charges against me related to Kurtz, they have retained four charges alleging I harassed police officers and disrupted their work by encouraging supporters to email the Montreal police regarding the charges against Kurtz. It’s bizarre logic. The Crown has agreed the Kurtz charges weren’t warranted but are still claiming it was criminal to ask for them to be dropped!

Beyond illogical, it’s a dangerous position. The police/prosecution are essentially arguing that making a political request of a public institution is criminal. I’ve instigated dozens of email campaigns targeting various institutions and individuals, but this is the first time it’s ever been labelled criminal.

If they don’t drop the charges beforehand, a trial is set to be held November 28. I will mount a vigorous legal, as well as political, defence. The police are clearly abusing their authority.

But establishment media has ignored the news. While The Maple published an article about the Kurtz charges being dropped, Journal de Montreal, Montreal Gazette and others who reported that I was charged for “harassing” Kurtz have ignored the news. They did so despite hundreds of corporate journalists opening a press release that was sent to a media list on the matter.

While annoying and time consuming, I haven’t been weakened by this process. In fact, I’ve been emboldened by the duel with Dahlia Kurtz. It’s essential to stand up to these cheerleaders for genocide and the best way to do that is to demonstrate resilience in the face of their harassment. Even better, to have fun doing it.
